Grŵp Llandrillo Menai is the FE college that offers the greatest range of opportunities to study bilingually in Wales. They take great pride in the provision currently offered across their courses including A-level courses, courses in health and care, public services, hairdressing, engineering and much more. The offer of Welsh and bilingual opportunities for the Grŵp's learners is a priority for them as they respond to the needs of the local economy and to the Welsh Government’s priorities. Welsh language skills are increasingly important across the public and private sectors in Wales and we are keen to ensure that they support learners to continue to develop this skill. Since the introduction of the Welsh Language Standards in April 2018, the Grŵp's learners have statutory rights to receive services in Welsh and we are fully committed to that duty. Additionally, the Grŵp have appointed the first ever Branch Officer in Further Education under sponsorship of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. This person will establish the first branch in Further Education for the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol within the Grŵp and create more opportunities for the Grŵp's learners to develop and use their Welsh.
Charlotte Till, Coleg Menai Student Union President said “I love my Business course because it teaches me so many practical things I can do in my day-to-day life!
However, the best thing about it is that I can choose to do my course bilingually. Not only does it help me become more employable in the country you wish to work in (a lot more employable at that!), but it also helps boost your CV for any business around the world! It shows dedication, loyalty and passion - everything an employers want to look for in a candidate!
Studying bilingually gives you a major advantage in your career, but it also helps your confidence! Knowing you are bilingual and being fluent in more than one language makes you feel fantastic - and that plays on your vibe with others!”
